Speak at WordCamp Kansas City

WordCamp KC 2019 has been set for Friday and Saturday, June 28th – 29th. We’re officially looking for speakers for this year’s event. WordCamp KC is one of the largest and best-attended WordCamps in the midwest and is a great opportunity for you to share your expertise and knowledge with the WordPress community. Submit a talk today!

Important speaker submission dates:

  • Submissions close April 19th
  • The organizing team will select speakers and sessions between April 20th and May 4th
  • Speakers will be announced Monday, May 6th.

Talks for all skill levels will be considered and all topics should be WordPress related or connected, such as: WordPress 101: for newbies, the basics of web design, digital marketing, SEO, entrepreneurship, social media, multisite development, managing a website, business management, entrepreneurship, personal experiences and case studies using WordPress, etc. You are welcomed to submit multiple topics or progressions such as Building a Plugin for Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced.

New to the WordCamp speaking scene?

WordCamp is not like many conferences.

  • There is no compensation to speak at WordCamp KC
  • Speakers volunteer 100% of their time
  • Speakers provide their own travel and lodging when selected as a speaker
  • Speakers do receive free access to all WordCamp KC sessions and after-parties
  • Guests of speakers must purchase a ticket for WordCamp KC

For more in-depth information, check out Speaking at a WordCamp from WordCamp.org and our Speaker FAQs.

What we’re looking for in a WordCamp KC speaker

  • WordCamps take place all of the world, every weekend of the year. Ideally, we would like the majority of WordCamp KC speakers to live in the Kansas City area
  • We love speakers who want to participate throughout our two day WordCamp, attending the conference, talking with attendees and attending after-parties
  • Please only submit a topic for consideration if you are positive you can present on June 28th or 29th

How long is a presentation?

Generally, a WordCamp KC presentation should be 30-40 minutes, then we will allow about 10 minutes for questions and answers afterwards.

What are this year’s WordCamp KC “tracks?”

In Kansas City we do it a little differently than many WordCamps. Instead of forcing speakers to develop a session that neatly fits into a specific category, the WordCamp KC  schedule and “tracks” will be built based on the topics and categories submitted by speakers. Our goal is to then build each “track” with a similar theme and each session building on the previous session.

We encourage speakers to submit any session topic they like. If you need direction or want to bounce an idea off organizers, please send us an email

  • Friday, June 28th (9am – 5pm)
  • Saturday, June 29th (9am – 5pm)

Multiple Topics?

If you’d like to submit multiple topics for WordCamp KC sessions, please submit this form, then within 15 minutes our automation will send you an email with a link for to submit more sessions – so you don’t have to fill out this long form multiple times
